Building Your Own Personal Brand as a Beauty Professional
In today’s beauty industry, having talent behind the chair isn’t enough—you also need a personal brand that sets you apart. A personal brand isn’t just a logo, a tagline, or a perfectly curated Instagram feed. It’s your reputation, your story, and the unique way you bring value to your clients and your peers.
Start Where You Are

I’ve been fortunate to work for a global brand, and that has given me opportunities to travel, teach, and connect with stylists across the country. But even if you don’t work directly with a major brand, you can still build your own. Your story, your skills, and your personality are the foundation.
Think about what makes you you:
Do a mood board….!!!!
Do you specialize in a certain service?
Do clients come to you because of your vibe, your energy, or the way you educate them?
Do you bring a unique perspective because of your personal journey?
Your personal brand begins with leaning into that.

Education at the Forefront
For me, education is the heart of my brand. I’ve always believed that when we know better, we do better. Sharing knowledge—whether it’s teaching a blonding class, posting formulas online, or mentoring a student—has helped me grow my credibility and trust in the industry.
If education is your passion too, put it front and center:
Share quick tips on social media.
Offer mini-classes to clients on home care.
Document your learning journey openly—what you’re mastering, what you’re experimenting with, what excites you.
People will connect with your authenticity as much as your expertise.
Master a Few Specific Services
When you’re building a brand, you don’t have to do everything. In fact, the fastest way to stand out is to get laser-focused on a few services and absolutely master them. For me, blonding, vivid color, and HydraGloss have become signatures. When people think of those services, they think of me.
Ask yourself:
What services light you up?
What do you consistently get great results in?
What could you talk about for hours without getting bored?
Choose 2–3 services, go deep, and let them become part of your identity. That’s how you become known for something instead of blending in with everyone else.
Show Up Consistently
Easier said than done, but try! I know life hit me and I needed to step back, so try hard to show up!
Personal branding isn’t built overnight. It’s a collection of small, consistent actions that tell your story. Share your work, post behind-the-scenes, write about your journey, or record reels about what you’re learning. Consistency builds recognition, and recognition builds trust.

✨ Bottom line: Your personal brand is already in you—it’s your story, your skills, your values. Working for a brand can help, but your own brand will always shine brightest when you lead with authenticity, education, and mastery of your craft.
